This list covers the best seven-seat electric vans and people movers in Australia that qualify for the fringe benefits tax (FBT) exemption on a novated lease. Each one suits a different buyer: the best all-rounder, the best luxury value, the best to drive and the best budget option. All four are electric, seven-seat people movers. Prices range from $60,000s to just under $90,000 before on-road costs to ensure they qualify for the EV FBT exemption.Â
To qualify for the FBT exemption, an electric vehicle must cost less than the luxury car tax (LCT) threshold for fuel-efficient vehicles ($91,661 for 2026-27). It should be noted that at least three of the four models on the list will not qualify for the full FBT exemption from 1 April 2027 as the threshold for the full discount will reduce to $75,000.Â
The EV FBT exemption only applies to vehicles the ATO treats as “cars”. That means vehicles built to carry less than one tonne and fewer than nine passengers. Many larger electric cargo vans, such as the Hyundai Staria Load Electric and Farizon V7E, carry more than one tonne, so they do not qualify. Options and dealer-fitted accessories also count towards the LCT value, so a van priced close to $91,661 can lose its exemption once extras are added. Always check the final price on your quote.

Launched in July 2026, the X9 offers the longest range and the biggest boot on this list, and it sits just under the LCT threshold. Charging is its standout feature. Xpeng claims 10 to 80 per cent in around 12 minutes on a compatible ultra-fast charger, which makes long family trips far easier. Air suspension and rear-wheel steering help this large van feel smaller than it is in car parks and tight streets.

The D9 comes from Denza, BYD’s premium brand, and the most luxurious van on this list. The second-row captain’s chairs have heating, ventilation, massage and power leg rests. It also has a 14-speaker Dynaudio sound system and a built-in fridge that can also warm food. The front-wheel-drive model has the largest battery here and still sits comfortably under the LCT threshold.

The ID. Buzz Pro LWB is the quickest and best-handling van on this list. Its 210kW rear-wheel-drive powertrain gives it a more car-like feel than the others, and reviewers found it efficient in real-world driving. It comes from a brand with an established dealer network, which may suit buyers wary of newer Chinese brands. The 2027 model year update adds bidirectional charging and extra safety features at no extra cost.

The PV5 Cargo van sells from $55,990 before on-road costs, and the seven-seat Passenger is expected to cost more. If Kia prices it in line with reports, it will be the cheapest electric people mover in Australia by a wide margin, putting it comfortably under the LCT threshold. It is built on a dedicated electric van platform and shares its powertrain with the PV5 Cargo, which is already on sale here. It is smaller than the others on this list, so it is easier to park, while still seating seven.
